"Love is the fulfillment of the law…the hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed" (Romans 13:10-11).
We must awake.
We live in a broken and sinful world. We live in a world filled with injustice: genocide and executions on the news, perpetual war, terrorist attacks, a huge, worldwide sex trade, modern-day slavery, and the poverty of far too many.
And so often, we feel powerless. We become discouraged. But Christ followers are called to so much more. We are not powerless. We have the answer: love. And we can't rely on our wimpy human love…we can only extend the love we have received from Christ. It is not as complicated as we sometimes make it out to be. Our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed, and we have seen and experienced the love of Christ first hand.
So we must AWAKE.
Corrie Ten Boom said, "There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still." We have seen and experienced a life changing love, and we must awake and share that love. Christ's love is the only cure for sin and brokenness. Nothing else will do.
